The FastCGI protocol exchanges frames.

 struct frame {
     ubyte version;
     ubyte type;
     ushort requestId;
     ushort contentLength;
     ubyte paddingLength;
     ubyte reserved;
     ubyte[] content;
     ubyte[] padding;
 }
 

Depending on the type, the content may have a different format, so there are specialized content parsers.
